Psychological Evaluations
Each evaluation is tailored to your specific needs and questions. You will be provided with a comprehensive report that typically includes an understanding of your or your child’s strengths and weaknesses, as well as recommendations for you and the referral source (e.g., school, primary care physician, etc.). Dr. Hull is available to attend school meetings to help facilitate this process.
The Evaluation Process
Intake phone call (10-15 minutes):
Discuss details including evaluation needs and explain process
Scheduling of appoinments
Discussion of fees
Answer any questions
Intake paperwork will be sent to complete electronically following this phone call if an appointment is scheduled
Parent interview (for children, teens and young adults when applicable):
Virtual video interview (45-60 minutes) that takes place 1-3 weeks prior to the in office testing sessions
Used to discuss relevant background information, current concerns and address any questions
In office testing sessions
1 or 2 sessions completed on a weekday; typically 9am to 12pm (for half day sessions) or 9am to 2/3pm with a lunch break (full day sessions)
You or your child will be administered an individualized battery of tests depending on the reason for referral and areas of concern
A battery will assess any of the following areas:
Intelligence testing
Reading (phonological processing, silent reading, oral reading, fluency, and comprehension)
Math (calculations and word problems)
Writing (spelling and written expression)
Language processing
Visual/verbal memory and learning abilities
Visual processing
Attention and executive functioning
Social/emotional functioning
Personality functioning
You and/or your child will also be asked to complete questionnaires as part of the evaluation process. A child’s school may also participate when warranted (e.g., school observation, completion of questionnaires, etc.).
Feedback Session (approximately 2 weeks after the final in office session)
During this session, the results of the evaluation will be discussed. This includes a discussion of your or your child’s profile (strengths and weaknesses) as well as a comprehensive report that provides detailed information of the results. Appropriate recommendations will be discussed as well as any questions you may have. With your permission, Dr. Hull may collaborate with other professionals such as school personnel, physicians or attorneys to discuss the results of the testing for appropriate interventions and treatment to occur following testing.
Participation in school based meetings (including 504 Plans, IEPs and school placement) as well as in-school consultation services are also available.
